One of the perks that I had in my three failed crowdfunding campaigns (count them: one, two, three) is the Graffiti Artist perk. Basically if you buy this perk then your name will be written in graffiti on walls in the game that the player would walk by. Most games simply put their backers in a “Special Thanks To” section of the credits that few people read. I thought this would be a cool way to guarantee that my backers would be recognized. I really like this idea so even though the campaigns failed, I’ll still be working this into the game. Like I said in my last post, I’m going to be removing the forest background from the game and go with something more simple. I’ve decided to just go with a brick wall with graffiti. Included in that graffiti will be the names of people who buy the special edition of the game. Its important to note here that once someone buys the special edition, their name will be instantly added to an online database from which the game draws the graffiti. This means that their name will even be included in game clients that were purchased before them.
The graffiti is more than just a glorified credits. I’ll also be writing messages on the wall to give the player important tips on how to solve the puzzles. This means that the graffiti cannot be ignored.
The graffiti feature has already been implemented. Once I have a working demo you’ll be able to test it out for yourself.
