Vote for the Riot of the Year 2015!

UPDATE: The winner has been announced for 2015! Congratulations to Prison Architect by Introversion Software!

It’s that time of year again, rioters!

Once again, it’s time to vote for the very best indie game of 2015! Here’s how it works:

  • All eligible games have been fully released between November 2014 to November 2015
  • All games must have been featured on the Indie Game Riot Podcast at some point in either the “Starting the Riot” or “Peep Show” segments.
  • You all will be able to vote for your favorite indie game to win starting November 1st through November 30th
  • You may vote once per day for your favorite indie game
  • All of your votes will collectively account for 75% of voting while the five major IGR staff members will individually account for 5%
  • Once you vote, comment below and tell us which game you voted for and why it should win and you will be put into a drawing for a BIG indie game prize pack! If you click the link, you will see there are other ways to earn entries too!

If you’re curious about any of the games, we have reviews for all them! Just use the search bar at the top of the site and check out the review and gameplay.

Last Year’s winner was Endless Legend from Amplitude Studios! Here’s a picture of them with their trophy!

I have to give my vote for Dex. The game captured my interest the moment it hit the stores on Steam, with its cyberpunk(ish) RPG themes. I was a fan of System Shock 2 and its successors at the time, and seeing and playing this game made me think of System Shock 2 so much that it won me over.

I sincerely hope it gets that award, just as much as I hope it makes the trek over to the console side in the next year.

The Weaponographist takes it hands-down. I’ve played and seen a few others in the list but honestly this takes the cake – a fun replacement for games like Binding of Isaac and one that encourages speedrunning and practice.

    Prison Architect

Simply put, you build your own prison, but it isn’t as simple as that. Each game is something new, as you design your prison the way you want. Maybe you’ll create a 400 capacity max sec. prison. Maybe you’ll fail terribly and your prisoners all escape. Maybe you’ll attempt to reform the prisoners. Maybe you’ll just punish them. The decisions are all yours.

We haven’t featured it yet, unfortunately. Around this time of year, there’s a massive amount of games that deserve a spotlight, but we can only do a few per episode.

Voted Prison Architect because the game is amazing and have had more fun than any other game that I have seen on the list and the riots are generally amazing :D

I voted Prison Architect not only because it’s an awesome game, but because it has a fantastic development staff. It’s the perfect example of what an early release game SHOULD be.

I voted prison architect, besides the fact that you can play the game for many hours without it getting boring, I also felt like they did their early development really well were so many early development games don’t

Voted for Prison Architect. In short because it’s the prison sim you never knew you wanted. Tongue-in-cheek while still somewhat “realistic”. Great minimalistic sound design, loads of replayability, so-so graphic design, but that’s the way it’s made. Gave me a bit theme hospital vibes, but in a different kind of setting.

Prison architecture, I was able to spend hours in this game and not get bored. That’s a big plus, the graphics remind me of south park lol and the game play is a challenge. The devs always kept up on the game so again big plus. This game definitely deserves the award for all their hard work and the great playability!

Prison Architect! As simply it looks, its content is so vast so there is like million options to achive any of your goals, and its so fun! Also, creators are enhancing it furher and there is no aditional small payment available nor needed to have full game as in most of games nowdays.

Prison Architect! Fantastic game, have been playing the alpha since it started. The devs did alpha release the way it should be done – regular updates, and the game just got better and better. Have been loving the full release and can’t wait to see how they build on the escape mode!
